Scrivo Residence
The Scrivo residence is located on Assembly Point in Lake George NY. That's Joe and his son in the picture. The builder, Doug McCall, decided to make things interesting for us by putting the fireplace across an interior corner of the room. The fireplace curves through the corner, and the firebox has a 42 inch opening. The stone we found on the site, in a large pile at the rear of a lot. Apparently much of Assembly Point was farmland at one time. The farmers used to plow a new crop of fieldstones each year and were nice enough to carry them down to the edge of the field where we could get to them 100 years later! The mantle follows the curve of the fireplace and was provided by Granite Mountain Stone. I will always remember the third cornerstone down from the top, on the right hand side of the stack. That's the one that broke my pinkie! No phony stone here, only the real HEAVY ones.
